Chapter 1, Part 1: School days of a wolf pack: Akita's eyes

A sunny day in the city. Akita is getting ready for school, trying desperately to fix her bedhead but to no avail. She glances down at her wardrobe with a grin. At least her new black t-shirt with pink graphics going up the side looked sexy and her jeans were ripped in all the right places. With a smile she looks at the clock and does a distressed squeal has she realizes it was 7:35 a.m. and she silently cursed, knowing they were going to get onto her for making them late.
She grabs her brush and school bag and races down her hall through her empty house till she reaches the door and nearly flies into Allison, who has her hand raised as if ready to knock. The short 5 foot 1 angel with long blue hair stood on her doorstep wearing a purple lace shirt and a white lacey skirt with black legging under her skirt. She topped her look off with a white bow the perched itself on the left side of the top of her head. The shock in Allison’s eyes disappeared but anger took its place as her cheeks swelled with anger and she said in her angriest (but still cute) voice , “Akita! Honestly, what took you so long? You know we have to leave at 7:30 to pick everyone up! I’ve already gotten three texts from Michael and one from Oliver!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Akita replied with a smile. “Sorry, sorry. Look, I’ll pay you back by buying you some pocky during break, ok?”
That got the light back in Allison’s eyes fast. “Ok! But make it-”
“Strawberry,” Akita completed for her with a smile. “I know, Sweetie.”
Allison just smiled at her as the two of them turned to walk down the street to pick up the others.
“So,” Allison started, “did you finish the math assignment last night?”
Akita froze as her face got tight. “Crap! I knew I’d forgotten something! Arrg! I can’t believe I didn’t do that! Mr. Landbert is going to give me detention for sure!”
Allison sighed heavily at her friend’s revelation. “Akita, honestly! What am I going to do with you?”
Akita giggled.
“What?” Allison asked.
“I really wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve ever heard you say that! I would have to be at least a millionaire.”
Allison laughed and swung her purse at Akita’s head. “No, you’d be a billionaire, you hairhead! If you wouldn’t do such stupid things all the time, I wouldn’t have to say it all the time.”
“Say what all the time?”
Akita and Allison looked over their shoulders to see Samantha standing behind them with a smile on her face. Samantha had on her usual sporty tee with a baseball cap on her head and loose, cut, pale blue jeans hung from her legs. Akita only had to look up slightly to meet her 5 foot 6 friend in the eye.
“Hey, Sam!” Akita said with a smile.
“Hey,” Samantha replied in kind.
“We were talking about me constantly saying “Akita, honestly” because of how many times Akita does something stupid. We were discussing how much money she would have if she had a dollar for every time I said it. What do you think?”
Samantha cocked her head, very similarly to what she does as Frostette. “Not sure. Maybe a million. Million in a half? Something in that range.”
Akita shook her head and kept moving forward. “So, what brings you out so early? I thought you were going to the park to play basketball with some of the pack today.”
Samantha shrugged. “I just didn’t feel like whooping any ass today. I get tired of always whooping the boys in everything.”
Akita just shook her head with a grin.
“Don’t you think you should spend more time doing more productive things?” Allison asked, her usual “Sam” question popping up.
Samantha just laughed. “Your idea of productive time is getting dressed up and eating sweets. No thanks. I’d much rather just put on a good pair of jeans then a too-tight top that smashes me up top and pants that feel like they’re going to rip if I bend over.”
At that moment, a male voice said in a cool, deep tone, “Oh, my Juliet, now that would be a sight to see.”
No one had to look over to see who it was. Samantha and Allison groaned as Akita looked at her childhood friend with joy. “Hey, Oliver! Sorry we’re so late!”
The 5 foot 11, red headed playboy stood in the entryway of his houses’ gate. He wore blue jeans with a black undershirt under a partially open white long sleeve shirt and blue jeans. “It’s fine, Kit-kit,” Oliver replied with a smile to go along with his favorite childhood nickname for his friend. “What took so long? Fall in the shower again?”
“No. Turned alarm off last night after going to bed.”
Oliver grimaced. “Yicks. Did you at least finish the math Landbert gave us?”
Akita sighed. “Did everyone remember but me?”
“It’s ok, Kit-kit. You can borrow mine before class starts.”
Akita gave Oliver a hug. “Thanks.”
“Can I borrow those after her to look over my work?” Allison asked.
Oliver winked at her. “Only if I get a kiss for it.”
Allison just rolled her eyes with a grin.
When the group finally got to school, they made their way to the center courtyard where the white blossom tree was.
Oliver and Samantha were arguing over which baseball team was better- cardinals or cubs- when Allison suddenly fell flat on her face.
“Allison!” Akita shouted as she bent down to get her friend.
“What on earth? Why’d you fall like that?” Samantha asked.
“Well, I didn’t do it on purpose! I tripped over something!” Allison complained while lifting herself up to dust off her clothes and face.
Akita looked behind the circular wall surrounding the tree and saw a body lying in the shadows with a book over its face.
Akita lifter the book and felt her eyes grow big as she stared at the sleeping culprit then began to laugh.
“Who was it?” Samantha asked as she came around to see who it was.
“Jennifer?!” Oliver exclaimed. “What on earth is she doing sleeping here?”
Akita wiped her eye as she finished laughing. “Oliver, she can sleep anywhere, you know that.”
The short haired beauty in question was lying on the ground in her ripped blue jeans and black t-shirt doing her no doubt favorite thing in the world. She had her ear buds in and was no doubt listening to something similar to a lullaby.
Akita shook her gently. “Jennifer. Jennifer, homeroom is about to start. You need to get up.”
The striking brown/black eyes slowly opened and stared at her with confusion until she realized who was above her. “Akita.” She rose to a kneeling position and wiped the sleep from her eye. “Good morning.”
“Good morning, Sweetie. How was your dreams?”
Jennifer yawned then smiled. “Pleasant.” She then looked up at Akita. “Do you know if Maka is here yet?”
Akita shook her head. “We just got here so we have no idea.”
“Oh. Well, Michael was looking for the four of you, saying he had something to tell you.”
“Well, that explains the texts,” Allison replied.
At that moment a 5 foot 3 boy with silver hair and brown eyes came running to the group. He had a look of excitement as he raced to Akita’s side. When he finally got there, he smiled brightly and said, “Guess what?”
“What’s up, Mikey?” Oliver asked, knowing the nickname would ruffle his feathers.
Michael just gave him a wolfish growl then looked at the girls with renewed eagerness. “There’s a meeting tonight. Zenith called for the Howl this morning. He told me and Asher to inform everyone about it in person. It’s tonight at 8:00p.m. at the cabin. He said it’s not too urgent but that attendance is mandatory. Some of the pack has been having trouble with another wolf pack and he just wants to lay down some ground rules before things get messy.”
Jennifer nodded. “That’s understandable. I had something I wanted to discuss with Niccalous anyway so this is good for me.”
“Anything else?” Akita asked.
“Nope. But, he did say one other thing. He wants us to go in human form.”
All of the group did weird faces. “Human form? Why?” Oliver asked.
Michael shrugged. “He’s alpha. He doesn’t have to explain himself so I didn’t bother asking.”
“Hmm. Weird,” Samantha whispered.
“What?” Allison asked.
“Nothing too big. Let’s just go and see what’s up. Could be nothing but something doesn’t feel right.”
To be continued…..

 Chapter 1, Part 2: Something’s not right: Akita’s eyes

Akita looked at Samantha with confusion. She obviously thought something was going on and it was annoying the crap out of her that she wouldn't say what it was but she figured she shouldn't push it.
Instead, she turned to Michael with a smile. "Alright, since you've done your duty, we need to get to class before the bell rings."
Michael smiled knowingly at Akita. "You mean you need to get up there and copy someone’s homework before class starts."
Akita smacked him in the head. "Respect your elders, brat."
Michael rubbed the back of his head and grin mischievously. "I only respect those who deserve it, Kit and you sure don't."
Allison made a small noise of remembrance and began digging in her backpack. She grumbled until she found what she was looking for and brought it out with a satisfied smile and held it out to Michael. "Here, this is the book I told you about yesterday! I almost couldn't find it but I managed somehow," she said with a smile.
As Michael and Allison began talking about the new series they were into, Akita turned and began making her way into the school building. The others followed soon after and they all dispersed into their different directions until only Oliver and Allison followed her.
Oliver was talking to Allison about something involving snacks when he suddenly said, "I really want to know what this Howl is really going to be about."
Allison lifted an eyebrow at him. "You heard Michael," she replied, "it's going to be about the new pack that's been showing up lately.
Oliver shook his head. "That can't be all, Al. Zenith wouldn't ask us to come in our human forms unless he thought that what he was going to say would upset the pack."
Akita had also thought of that but she hadn't wanted to say it out loud. In their wolf states, the pack was much more vulnerable to their emotions. Meaning, if something were to upset them in their wolf stages, their human common sense would fly out the door. Something was definitely going to happen tonight but she just couldn't figure out what.
Akita was so engrossed in her thoughts, she didn't notice what was in front of her and walked face first into a large male body. Her wolf immediately recognized scent of the fellow pack mate long before she raised her head to look up into topaz eyes framed by pitch black hair.
She backed up and slightly nodded her head. "Sorry, Xavier. I wasn't watching where I was going."
Xavier just stared back at her.
A gentle hand tapped Xavier on the arm and Akita looked over to see Jasmine standing beside him. “Xavier!”
He just looked over at her, but like always, Xavier’s eyes got a bit gentler as he stared at his little sister.
Jasmine look back at Akita and smiled brilliantly. Her dark blue eyes sparkled as she said, “Don’t worry about him, Akita. I’m sorry he was so rude.”
Akita just smiled back. You couldn’t help but do that when Jasmine smiled at you. “No problem. I don’t mind.”
Oliver, whom Akita had forgotten about, huffed. “Jas, you shouldn’t be the one apologizing,” he said and turned a lethal glare to Xavier.
Allison scoffed at both of them as Xavier glared back. “Men,” Allison exclaimed, sounding exasperated. She then walked by Oliver, grabbed Akita and Jasmine by their arms and the three of them- arm and arm and arm- walked further down the hall, toward their classroom.
“So, what have you been up to?” Akita asked Jasmine. “It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve last seen you.”
Jasmine giggled. “Yeah, I know. Me and Xavier just got back yesterday from the mountains with Ethan. He wanted to go looking for some kind of herb but Zenith didn’t want him going alone so he just sent us since everyone else was busy.”
Allison snapped out of a dream like trance and turned to Jasmine with a grin, “By the way, have you seen Asher or Michael?”
“No, why?”
“Apparently there’s a Howl tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the cabin. Mandatory and Zenith wants everyone to come in human form.”
Akita felt the change in Xavier very quickly. The air around him twitched at that new information.
Akita looked back at him. “Yeah, I know. Freaky, huh?”
Xavier puckered his lips like he normally does when he’s thinking. “That is weird. Whatever he wants to tell us is going to be big. Or at least something that will piss a lot of the pack off. Did he give a reason as of why we’re having the Howl?”
Akita shrugged then faced forward again. “All I know is that it’s supposed to be about that new pack that’s been showing up lately. But, honestly, I think it’s just a front for the meeting. I might be looking too much into it, but there’s no way Zenith would go to such lengths as to make us come in human form without at least some of the info not being good. What do you think?”
Xavier thought a moment. “Not sure. Guess we’ll find out tonight.”
Akita nodded as they stepped into the classroom and stopped talking about the pack and moved to discussions about their homework. They usually weren’t so open with talking about pack issuses but they hadn’t seen any human kids in the hallway and most humans simply pass their conversations off as a new game or club they made up. Akita shook her head in her mind. Human could be so delusional if they wanted to be but she guessed it was just easier for them to believe in stuff like that then to think of the fact that they may be going to school with a bunch of werewolves. Only some of the pack goes to high school. Most are either already in college or adulthood. The pups weren’t allowed to go to school until they could completely control their wolf forms, which sometimes didn’t happen until they were at least ten in human years. Although some wolves, like Akita, developed their skills early on at ages five to seven or as late as sixteen. Most of the pack were also orphans, either through means of abandonment or death.
The bell to start class interrupted her thoughts.  She glanced and noticed the teacher hadn’t come in yet and quickly picked a desk close to Allison so she could copy down Oliver’s answers while Allison looked over hers. While copying the work and answers, Akita laughed to herself. Yep, she thought, even wolves cheat on their homework.

When the bell rang for lunch after history, Akita almost howled in happiness. She stretched and got up to head for the door, knowing Jennifer was behind her when she felt her cellphone vibrate and heard Jennifer’s as well.
They both looked at each other in the hallway then pulled out their cellphones to see that they had text messages from Oliver, asking if they wanted to eat lunch on the roof.
Both shrugged and went to get lunch treys out of the lunch room and went to the roof to meet the others.
When the door opened and they were greeted by the bright sun, Akita’s heart sang. She loved the feeling of the sun soaking into her skin.
“Hey, you two!” Oliver shouted from across the way.
“About time!” Samantha called as well.
Akita looked over at them to see the pack, or their school pack, were all on the other side of the roof, already devouring their lunches.
Jennifer and Akita both smiled at them and made their ways over to them. “Geez, don’t rush us. You know that lunch line is horrible.”
Jasmine laughed at Akita’s teasing. “Yeah, sure, it takes ten minutes to go get food from the cafeteria and then bring it up here.” She then sighed. “Why can’t you two be like the rest of us and just make your own lunches?”
Akita groaned. “Yeah, but that would mean I would actually have to get up earlier every morning and I have trouble getting up already as it is.”
Allison shrugged. “I keep telling you you should just move in with me. You’re all alone in that huge apartment anyway, so you might as well.”
Oliver shook his head. “And you claim to be one of her best friends. You know she likes her alone time, just like the rest of us.”
“No,” Samantha replied with a huge bite of ham sandwich in her mouth, “she likes her privacy even more than the rest of us.”
Allison sighed, “Sam, honey, pick one or the other: Talk or eat. You can’t do both at the same time. It’s not lady like.”
Samantha swallowed her bite then replied, “Bite me,” right before she took another one.
Akita shook her head at the two of them as Allison began going off on her. She then sighed as her thoughts turned south again. It was a really good thing that the Howl was tonight and not tomorrow or in a week because the suspense would’ve driven her insane.
“Thinking about the Howl?” a deep voice asked.
She nodded, knowing it was Mike who’d asked. She was surprised he could keep his voice even with those headphones blaring in his ears.
Akita, having adjusted to Mike and his odd ways, sign languaged to him that the suspense was killing her. She wanted to know what was so important that it couldn’t have waited until the next monthly Howl, two weeks from now.
Mike nodded then signed back that he understood. He was feeling the same way and wanted to know what was up as much as she did. He then asked, Do you think it’s a new pack member?
But why would that make the pack mad? We’ve always accepted anyone Zenith has brought before us so why would he think we would be angry about it?
Don’t know. I’m just trying to think of something it could be. Do you have any ideas?
Not really. It might be new rules or territory limits.
No, that wouldn’t be it, I wouldn’t think.
Both of them sat there a minute in silence, while the others listened to Allison and Samantha arguing.
Do you think anyone will change tonight? Mike suddenly asked.
Akita shrugged then began eating. She supposed worrying over it would be pointless. They were going to fight out in- she glanced at her watch- seven hours and fifty three minutes what this meeting was about so she guessed she might as well drop it for now and just concentrate on getting today over with. Then she cussed out loud. She had an English test next period.

When they finally got released from their prison, Akita and the others made their way to Jasmine and Xavier’s house so they could all just car pool in Jasmine’s van and Xavier’s jeep to the cabin in the mountains. Akita was getting into the back of the jeep when a chill went up her spine and she heard Chimera growl menacingly in warning in her head. She looked back to see no one looking at her, which only made the feeling in the pit of her stomach that much worse.
“Akita? You coming?” Oliver asked.
Akita nodded then got fully into the jeep and settled in.
Ok. Akita, stop it, she told herself. There’s no one there.
She should’ve taken a closer look in the nearby tree.

“Sergeant Vladmir captain of Task force C, Iraq, Guatemala, Tokyo, Cape Town
Very impressive.” “I know what you’re trying to do and it won’t work.” The interrogator wasn’t impressed with Vladmir’s reply “no you DON’T know what I’m trying to do; I’m here to clean up this mess!” Vladmir found this very amusing to watch, “listen here sergeant, I walk out that door you will be de-classified, you will be convicted and you will spend the rest of your life in prison.” Hearing such a tone from a human wasn’t very amusing to him anymore matter in fact it actually pissed him off, he didn’t see why he had to answer the fool. “Fine have it your way.” As the interrogator walked to the door Vladmir shouted “WAIT!! What do you want to know?” the interrogator went back to his seat and looked him right in the eye, “tell me about your mission in Rio De Jenairo?” “We where infiltrating a cocaine trade in Brazil, the RAF was behind the entire plan. We planned to enter the slums and move to the rondavoir point where Allistar was providing over view for the target building.”

21 May 2011 0300hrs

“Man I hate places like this, so quiet.” Kate replied rather quickly to the remark “Are you kidding me this is rather relaxing, don’t you think so Allistar?”He replied “not enjoying this where I am, to many guards here.” Intel from HQ arrived as planned “a lot of the people here are future recruits, don’t do something to attract attention to yourself; remain in the shadows and if you have to attack use your knife or a silent shot to the head. Commencing radio silence.” The team knew about each others secrets and kept it amongst each other. “Yeah and if you want to, go wolf and rip their throats apart.” With a giggle Kate replied “Yeah Jake you would love that.” The target building was literally a road from where Allistar was which made it very easy for him to spot a surprising thing “people all the RAF members are FEMALE.” Jake replied “dam they don’t joke with their toys, I’m spotting 2...3...6, no 11 M246 machine guns and all secondary weapons are MP5 rifles.” The team stopped and put on all their silencers for their weapons, as they were doing this Allistar notified them. “The targets have entered the building with a male hostage.” The plan was going down without a problem until. “that’s some long roll call.” Vladmir could smell blood inside the building and could here every heart beat inside, Kate was more interested in Allistar then suddenly Jake coked his gun and ran to the door screaming “they discussing the plan as we speak!!!” hearing this, the entire team sprang into action.

 0500hrs

Bullets were flying everywhere, bodies were dropping and blood was getting spilt. The entire team were basically already in their wolf forms, they could time each bullet shot and could spot a shooter 6 blocks away. As they entered the building they made a quick yet thorough check of the building, they found the two commanders and Vladmir left to find the hostage. Jake took 2 hits and that helped him to lose his temper as he shifted Kate shot a smoke grenade trying to cover the scene from Jake, when the smoke disappeared 7 guards were killed and Jake stood there in his wolf form as bloody as ever. Kate shook her head and Allistar amusingly said “show off” everyone knew that what Jake did was something Allistar would’ve done.

Present day

The interrogator then said the words most people wanted to know “did you find this man.” He replied “yes” “did you shoot him?” he lowered his head and said disapprovingly “NO” the interrogator was intrigued and then asked why? He said “when I found him, he was standing on the top floor with a 12 gauge shotgun aiming at my head. I told him I was there to help, he said he didn’t need any help, I then realised that the HOSTAGE was Keller Shnoltz. He was getting information from HQ about the mission; he is the leader of 7th wave; he was the reason for 87 marine and military deaths.” The Interrogator wasn’t pleased to here this “So you saying you could’ve killed the man but you didn’t have the balls to do it, is that what your bloody will saying?” he replied with a fierce growl “if I had the shot I would’ve, dam RPG hit the building and that’s all I remember!” at this time Kate, Jake and Allistar was being brought in for questioning. The interrogator was rather scared then angry after he heard that growl “well your not going anywhere till I get to the end of this.”
